Dan Pandzic - Pressed out

What was the first trick you learned?

I started out riding in my back yard on the old black snow from Canadian Tire and the first trick I learned was a switch frontside 180 because I couldn’t land switch so I figured taking off switch and getting back to regular would be easiest... duuuh!

Who did you look up to when you started snowboarding?

When I first started especially because I didn’t know the scene at all, I never knew about Transworld and all that jazz, but seeing Travis Mccormak and Justin MacKenzie doing cab 540s over rollers at Searchmont. It basically blew my mind.

Now we know you spent a season riding out west at Big White, how does the local scene here in the Sault compare?

The local scene in the Sault? I don’t think the kids here know how ridiculously skilled they really are. I enjoy riding with everyone at Searchmont and from the Sault because they push me every day. Everyone is so creative here, and they all just love to ride. Don’t get me wrong the kids out west are good but they ride perfect set ups every day we gotta man up a little more and throw down in the worst conditions. Ontario riders got kahunas. Look at Matt Hull and Kyle Eaton they’re boss and they don’t care what they ride they just ride. Ontarians inspire me that’s for sure.

When are you going to land the triple cork?

Triples? hahahah let me work on doubles and then we'll talk

We've seen your footage and it's obvious you’re at home either in the air or bangin’ rails. Which do you prefer doing, tech tricks or high consequence tricks?

Little bit of both... if I were at the top of a drop in and on the left I had a perfect booter and on the right there would be a perfect down bar id probably lose my mind... because that’s a difficult decision to make all the time. They’re both such turbo things to have fun on. It would also have to depend what trick I’m interested in at the time.

What are you working on now?

Back rodeo to front board, and a double cork is in the mechanics. It’s more so working up to those moves. I’ve got a feeling you will be seeing at least one of the two any day, and also a switch hardway back 270. I think that’s the coolest thing ever, but as I start to think more into this I want to learn them all. lol you can’t put a limit on snowboarding or else it won’t be fun anymore.

Where's your favourite non snow travel destination?

Non snow travel destination in summer time Saint John New Brunswick because well that is where some of the most turbo scenes I’ve ever been a part of are located, and I met a lot of homies I want in my life, and I rode some super sick bike stuff in that town. Also, since I’ve never been anywhere but the Dominican... the Dominican haha!

Who's your favourite pro rider?

I'm going to have to say Aaron Bittner and Simon Chamberlain. I think they both got their own styles of riding and I enjoy that plus they both seem really tall and us tall dudes need to stick together. Isn’t that right papa Trav???

What inspired you to push your snowboarding so hard?

The people and friends around me in all my travels inspired me in every way I can think of.

Name your top three places to ride.

There are so many places I love to ride that is an unfair question, but I’d have to say for now Dandy Land, Vesa’s and well Big White.
